TikTok Contributes $3.9 Billion to Saudi Arabia’s GDP

TikTok, in collaboration with strategic consulting firm RedSeer, has released its first-ever socio-economic impact report for Saudi Arabia, revealing that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on the platform contributed 3.9 billion SAR to the Kingdom’s GDP in 2024 alone. The report, titled “The TikTok Effect,” details how the platform is creating jobs, fostering entrepreneurship, and supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Empowering the SME and Creator Economy

The report highlights TikTok as a vital engine for the Kingdom’s digital economy. With over 170,000 active SMEs and more than 1 million content creators, the platform has become a key channel for growth and commerce. According to the study, TikTok’s advertising tools and free services led to a direct revenue increase of 3 billion SAR for SMEs. Furthermore, 61% of these businesses reported improved brand visibility, and 42% noted significant time savings on their marketing efforts.


A Catalyst for Youth and Female Entrepreneurship

Beyond established businesses, the platform is proving to be a powerful catalyst for new venture creation, particularly among women and youth. The report found that 23% of Saudi female entrepreneurs were inspired by TikTok to launch their businesses. Additionally, 55% of SMEs surveyed agreed that the platform actively encourages young people to start their own projects, aligning with Vision 2030’s goal of increasing the SME sector’s contribution to the national GDP.


Boosting Cultural Identity and Global Reach

TikTok’s influence extends beyond the economy into the cultural sphere. The report reveals that 88% of Saudi users believe the platform enhances national pride, while 42% have discovered new local travel destinations through the app. This cultural promotion has a tangible global impact, with 30% of international users surveyed stating they considered visiting the Kingdom after engaging with Saudi content on the platform.

“TikTok’s impact in Saudi Arabia goes beyond entertainment; the platform also supports entrepreneurship, enables job creation, and strengthens cultural identity,” said Dr. Hatem Samman, Executive Director of Government Relations and Public Policy at TikTok KSA.
