The Directorate of Companies, operating under Syria’s General Administration of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, has announced a new package of services aimed at simplifying administrative procedures and improving the business environment for investors and economic entities.
Streamlining Key Business Procedures
The new initiative introduces a range of services designed to accelerate the establishment and operation of businesses. Key offerings include streamlined processes for capital companies, issuing tax identification numbers, and managing publications in the official gazette. The package also facilitates the issuance of non-conviction certificates and financial clearances, in addition to simplifying commercial registry services in the Damascus countryside.
The Move Towards Digitalization
In a significant step towards modernization, the Directorate confirmed that it is preparing to launch electronic payment options for these new services. This move, conducted in collaboration with relevant authorities, aims to speed up processes, reduce reliance on paperwork, and align with the administration’s broader digital transformation goals.
Centralizing Foreign Company Oversight
In a related administrative restructuring, Syria’s Ministry of Economy and Industry has transferred the department for “branches and agencies of foreign companies” to the Directorate of Companies. According to the decision, this measure is intended to unify the oversight of foreign companies operating in Syria, enhance administrative efficiency, and ensure more effective monitoring of their activities.
