Samsung Integrates Perplexity AI Into Its Smart TVs

Samsung Electronics has announced a partnership with AI-powered answer engine Perplexity to launch the first-ever Perplexity TV app. This new integration is part of Samsung’s broader Vision AI Companion experience, designed to bring advanced generative AI support directly to the television screen, transforming how users interact with their devices for information and content discovery.

Elevating the Smart TV Experience

The Perplexity TV app functions as a standalone AI agent within Samsung’s ecosystem, aiming to provide users with a more intuitive way to find information. Unlike traditional search engines, Perplexity draws from credible sources in real-time to provide accurate, conversational answers and perform in-depth research. Users can now ask complex questions directly from their TV, whether it’s planning a trip, researching a film director’s entire filmography, or getting recommendations for entertainment.

How It Works

Available on the TV’s home screen or within the Vision AI Companion hub, the app supports both voice and text-based queries. After a one-time approval for microphone access, users can use voice commands to ask questions. The app presents results in visually optimized, “glanceable cards” specifically designed for the TV interface, moving beyond simple text responses to create a more engaging experience. For those who prefer not to use voice, an on-screen or connected USB keyboard can be used for text input.

Availability and Special Offer

The Perplexity TV app is immediately available on all 2025 Samsung TV models. An OS update scheduled for later this year will bring the app to 2023 and 2024 models. To celebrate the launch, Samsung users can redeem a complimentary 12-month subscription to Perplexity Pro by scanning a QR code within the TV app, unlocking enhanced features and capabilities.
