Oman’s leadership landscape has been significantly bolstered with the graduation of 90 emerging female leaders from the Sidrah 4.0 program, marking the largest cohort to date for the national initiative. Co-designed and delivered by Lahunna Oman in collaboration with Outward Bound Oman, the program is a cornerstone for developing the next generation of Omani women poised to shape the nation’s future in alignment with Oman Vision 2040.

The five-month intensive journey, designed for women aged 20-35, brings the total number of program alumnae to 257 across its four editions.

A Multi-Faceted Approach to Leadership

Sidrah 4.0 distinguishes itself through a comprehensive curriculum that blends immersive outdoor learning with practical professional development. The program integrates knowledge-sharing sessions, online courses, group mentoring, and professional coaching to cultivate a holistic set of leadership skills.

This blended model is designed to nurture not just professional acumen but also personal resilience, teamwork, and self-belief. Andrew Hill, Executive Director of Outward Bound Oman, commented on this approach, “As delivery partners, we see the impact of outdoor experiential learning in strengthening resilience, teamwork, and self-belief. It is always inspiring to witness participants grow through challenge, reflection, and contribution.”

Fostering Community Impact and Civic Engagement

A core component of the Sidrah experience is its focus on civic responsibility. During the program, participants actively engaged with the community, volunteering with over 20 organizations. Their efforts supported a wide range of initiatives spanning education, entrepreneurship, youth development, wellness, and environmental responsibility, creating a tangible impact across the Sultanate.

Shatha Salim Al Maskiry, Founder of Lahunna Oman, emphasized the program’s purpose-driven nature. “Sidrah nurtures the mindset, character, and dedication of young women aspiring to lead with purpose. This cohort leaves with renewed confidence and a deeper conviction in their ability to drive lasting change in society.”

Corporate Backing for National Talent

The success and sustainability of Sidrah are amplified by strong support from Oman’s private sector, including key partners OQ, Sohar International, Oman Shell, and SABCO Media. These organizations view the initiative as a strategic investment in the nation’s human capital.

Abdulwahid Mohamed Al Murshidi, Chief Executive Officer of Sohar International, stated, “Supporting young Omani women at critical stages of their personal and professional development is not merely an investment in individuals, but in the resilience and dynamism of our society as a whole. We believe that the private sector has a responsibility to actively champion structured development platforms that prepare the youth to navigate an increasingly complex and competitive landscape.”

Echoing this sentiment, Eng. Ali Al Lawati, Chief People & Technology Officer at OQ, said, “At OQ, we regard the development of the next generation of Omani leaders, particularly women, as both a duty and a responsibility, rooted in our vision to support national talent in line with Oman Vision 2040.”

Feedback from the graduates highlighted significant growth in leadership readiness, collaboration skills, and overall career confidence, underscoring the program’s effectiveness in preparing them for future challenges.
