The Governorate of Beni Suef has successfully concluded a major training program focused on financial inclusion and entrepreneurship, significantly surpassing its initial targets. The initiative, a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Local Development, the Sonaa Al-Khair Foundation for Development, and Banque Misr, trained over 12,000 young men and women, exceeding its goal by 120%.
The program falls under the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Building the Egyptian Human Being” and aligns with the governorate’s strategy to bolster small enterprises and improve demographic characteristics.
A Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration
Dr. Mohamed Hany Ghoneim, the Governor of Beni Suef, praised the initiative as a prime example of effective integration between executive bodies, national banking institutions, and civil society. The final report, presented by Deputy Governor and program supervisor Mr. Bilal Habash, highlighted that the program exceeded its initial target of training 10,000 individuals over its duration.
This public-private partnership is designed to directly support Beni Suef’s local development strategy, which prioritizes key sectors such as industry, telecommunications, SMEs, and agricultural development.
Strategic Alignment with National Vision
The training program is a key component of Egypt’s Vision 2030, which aims to address population growth by transforming the nation’s youth into a productive economic force. By equipping young people with skills in financial literacy and economic empowerment, the governorate is actively working to foster a new generation of entrepreneurs.
Dr. Fatima Al-Zahraa Jil, a demographic expert and head of the Central Population Administration at the Ministry of Local Development, commended Beni Suef’s proactive implementation of the ministry’s directives, noting its leadership role in executing population-focused initiatives.
Program Focus and Implementation
Supervised by the governorate’s Population Unit, the program provided in-depth modules on entrepreneurship and small project management. Key contributors included Mostafa Zamzam, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Sonaa Al-Khair Foundation, and the Financial Inclusion and Economic Empowerment sector at Banque Misr. The curriculum was designed to equip participants with the practical skills needed to launch and manage their own ventures, contributing directly to the local and national economy.
