Fawry, Egypt’s leading fintech and electronic payment company, has announced a major expansion of its services by introducing Apple Pay for its customers. This initiative, launched in collaboration with Banque Misr, enables myfawry yellowcard holders to utilize a safer, more secure, and private way to conduct transactions using their Apple devices.
A New Era of Contactless Payments
The integration allows customers to make seamless contactless payments by simply holding their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment terminal. Every transaction is authenticated through advanced security features like Face ID, Touch ID, or the device’s passcode, supplemented by a one-time unique dynamic security code. This service is widely accepted across Egypt in various retail environments, including grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, and more, significantly enhancing the convenience of daily purchases.
Security and Privacy at the Forefront
At the core of the Apple Pay service is a robust security framework designed to protect user data. When a customer adds their myfawry yellowcard to Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device or on Apple’s servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element, an industry-standard certified chip on the device. This process ensures that customer payment information remains private and secure.
Streamlining Digital Commerce
Beyond in-store payments, the collaboration also streamlines the online shopping experience. Customers can use Apple Pay on their iPhone, iPad, and Mac for faster and more convenient purchases within apps or on websites via the Safari browser. This eliminates the need to repeatedly create accounts or enter shipping and billing details, simplifying payments for services such as food delivery, e-commerce, and transportation.
