Bahrain’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has launched the first cohort of its National Programme for Cyber Awareness Specialists, a comprehensive initiative also known as the “Lamea” project. The program is designed to create a network of certified specialists capable of designing and implementing sustainable cybersecurity awareness programs within government entities and key private sector organizations across the Kingdom.
A Strategic Move to Enhance Cyber Maturity
The initiative is a strategic effort to bolster Bahrain’s national cyber maturity and maintain its advanced position in the ITU Global Cybersecurity Index. According to Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, Deputy Chief Executive of the NCSC, the program will enable participants to become leaders in cyber awareness, enhancing coordination between the NCSC and other vital entities to achieve the Kingdom’s strategic cybersecurity objectives.
Upskilling Specialists Across Vital Sectors
The first cohort of the program includes 75 specialists from 55 different organizations. These participants are now tasked with leading cyber awareness activities within their respective institutions. The training will be delivered by cybersecurity consultant Ali Beshara, who will equip the specialists with the necessary skills to develop and execute effective awareness campaigns and foster a culture of secure digital practices.
Unified National Cybersecurity Efforts
The Lamea project is part of the NCSC’s broader mandate to support all national sectors in promoting a secure digital environment. The Centre plays a key role in developing national cybersecurity policies, standards, and frameworks, and overseeing their implementation. This ensures a unified, measurable, and mature approach to cybersecurity at the national level, strengthening the digital resilience of the entire country.
