Iraq’s Fastest-Growing E-Commerce Platform Digital Zone Enters The Saudi Arabian Market

3 Min Read

Digital Zone, Iraq’s leading and fastest-growing digital commerce platform, has announced its strategic entry into Saudi Arabia, marking a significant milestone for the Iraqi startup ecosystem. The move highlights the increasing attractiveness of the Kingdom as a regional hub for technology and fintech, drawing in promising companies from across the Middle East. Since its founding in 2020, Digital Zone has achieved remarkable scale, now serving over five million active users and having processed more than 41 million orders.

Tapping Into A Booming Ecosystem

Digital Zone’s expansion is driven by Saudi Arabia’s thriving digital economy, underpinned by its National FinTech Strategy. The Kingdom’s fintech market is projected to surge from $64 billion in 2024 to over $87 billion by 2029, with more than 200 fintech companies already active. This dynamic environment makes Riyadh a natural destination for ambitious regional startups seeking to scale.

“Saudi Arabia’s fintech trajectory is unmatched in the region. For Digital Zone, connecting with this ecosystem is a natural step,” said Saif Al-Mufti, Founder and CEO of Digital Zone. “We’ve built a platform that empowers millions of users and thousands of merchants in Iraq, and we see the Kingdom as a vital partner in scaling that vision across borders.”

A Standout Success From Iraq

Digital Zone has emerged as a standout success story from Iraq’s nascent entrepreneurial landscape, which is characterized by limited access to venture capital. It is one of the first Iraqi platforms to achieve national scale and is now among the first to pursue significant regional growth. The company’s core platform is complemented by popular mini-apps, including Ticket Zone for event booking and Rahal for travel services, which have become household names in its home market.

Bridging The Baghdad-Riyadh Corridor

The company formalized its entry into the Saudi market as a strategic sponsor of the Bridge Baghdad program. This initiative, organized by Value Makers Studio (VMS) and KAPITA Business Hub with support from Orange Corners Baghdad, brought a delegation of over 30 Iraqi startups to Riyadh. Held from September 13–15 at the Center of Digital Entrepreneurship (CODE HQ), the program facilitated engagement between the Iraqi founders and key Saudi investors, regulators, and ecosystem leaders, fostering cross-border collaboration.
