Abu Dhabi investment firm BlueFive Capital is raising a new $1 billion fund focused on private equity investments in Asia, with plans to close by the fourth quarter of 2025. Chief Executive Hazem Ben-Gacem announced the initiative, which will source capital primarily from Middle Eastern family offices to deploy in high-growth Asian markets.
Bridging Middle East Capital and Asian Opportunities
The new fund is strategically positioned to capitalize on strengthening economic ties between the Middle East and Asia. Ben-Gacem highlighted the firm’s goal to act as an “anchor partner” in this evolving landscape. “The direction of geopolitics for the next, most likely, decade or two, is such where you will see a very close rerouting of both trade and capital between Asia, China and the Middle East,” he stated. The fund has also reportedly attracted interest from institutional investors in China.
Targeting Key Sectors in Indonesia and China
BlueFive Capital has identified specific sectors for investment. The fund will target aviation and mining assets in Indonesia, alongside transport-related infrastructure assets in China. Ben-Gacem noted a significant opportunity in China to form public-private partnerships, acquiring long-term concession agreements for critical infrastructure like airports and ports.
Building on Recent Momentum
This Asia-focused fund follows a period of significant activity for BlueFive Capital. In July, the firm announced it had raised $2 billion for a fund dedicated to private equity investments within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. A month later, Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund, Mumtalakat, acquired a strategic stake in the investment firm, underscoring its growing influence in the alternative asset management space.
