Saudi’s HyperPay Partners With Mastercard To Launch Commercial Cards For SMEs

3 Min Read

HyperPay, the leading payment gateway provider in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), has announced a strategic collaboration with global payments giant Mastercard to accelerate the digital transformation of the region’s commercial payments landscape. The partnership will see the two entities jointly issue commercial cards for businesses, starting in Saudi Arabia before expanding to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

Modernizing SME Financial Operations

The collaboration is set to empower Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and merchants with secure and scalable commercial card offerings designed to streamline expense management and enhance financial efficiency. By leveraging these new payment solutions, businesses can digitize their financial operations, moving away from traditional methods towards more seamless and trackable transactions. The initiative is further supported by HyperPay’s recent acquisition of an Electronic Money Institute (EMI) license, which bolsters its capability to digitize SME payments.

A Strategic Alliance For Digital Transformation

This partnership builds on a long-standing relationship between the two companies, aimed at advancing the regional payments ecosystem. The new commercial cards will combine HyperPay’s local market expertise with Mastercard’s global reach and innovative technology to deliver future-ready solutions that support the needs of a rapidly evolving digital economy.

Muhannad Ebwini, Founder & CEO of HyperPay, commented, “Since 2022, we have worked closely with Mastercard to accelerate the digital transformation of the payment’s ecosystem in the region. Our latest collaboration marks another a significant step forward on our collective journey towards regional growth, enabling merchants and enterprises to enhance business performance with a range of innovative payment solutions.”

Tapping Into A Growing Market

The initiative comes at a pivotal time, particularly in Saudi Arabia, where SMEs are showing strong confidence and high adoption of digital technologies. According to Mastercard, 93% of SMEs in the Kingdom are confident about the year ahead, and 99% already accept digital payments, indicating a strong market appetite for advanced financial tools.

“With thriving digital economies being built on the foundation of an innovative payments ecosystem, our collaboration with HyperPay aims to empower merchants, SMEs and the wider business community with game-changing commercial cards that safeguard their futures and foster economic growth,” said Saud Swar, Country Manager for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan and other Levant at Mastercard.
