Irbid National University, in a strategic effort to cultivate a culture of innovation within its student body, has successfully concluded a training course for the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship competition. The initiative, organized by the university’s Career Guidance and Alumni Follow-up Office in partnership with the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, featured a keynote lecture on the fundamentals of building a successful venture.
The event underscores a growing trend across Jordanian academic institutions to integrate practical entrepreneurial training into their curricula, preparing a new generation of founders to contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
From Idea to Sustainability
The cornerstone of the event was a comprehensive lecture titled “Entrepreneurship and Innovation: From Idea Generation to Success and Sustainability,” presented by Dr. Mohammad Khaled Al-Azzam. He outlined the modern entrepreneurial journey, emphasizing that a successful venture begins with an innovative idea but requires a well-structured plan and persistent effort to achieve sustainability.
Dr. Al-Azzam stressed that entrepreneurial success is not accidental but the result of a clear vision, unwavering belief in the core idea, and the agility to navigate market changes and challenges. He highlighted innovation as the primary driver of growth and differentiation, noting that a successful entrepreneur is one who can transform problems into opportunities and ideas into market-ready products or services.
University-Led Incubation
Dr. Ibrahim Siam, Head of the university’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Unit, affirmed that the lecture is part of a series of activities designed to equip participants with essential business skills. He explained that the unit is dedicated to incubating and supporting entrepreneurial projects from both faculty members and students.
This support system provides crucial guidance, mentorship, specialized training, and networking opportunities with key players in the ecosystem. Dr. Siam also showcased several innovative projects already submitted to the unit, reflecting a high level of creative thinking that the university aims to nurture into tangible, high-impact ventures.
Fostering a New Generation of Founders
The session was marked by strong engagement from the students, many of whom are finalists in the national competition and are actively developing their own startup projects. The interactive Q&A covered critical topics such as idea development and pathways to incubation both within the university and the broader Jordanian ecosystem.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the university’s commitment to youth empowerment in entrepreneurship. They noted that such initiatives provide them with new avenues for creativity and excellence, reinforcing the university’s role as a key institution in shaping a generation of leaders capable of building the future.
