Morocco Launches Idarati X.0 To Digitize Government Services With AI

3 Min Read

Morocco is taking a significant leap in its digital transformation journey with the launch of Idarati X.0, a new super-app designed to revolutionize how citizens interact with public services. The Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform (MTNRA) announced the initiative after signing eight cooperation agreements with key public institutions and private sector tech companies.

The platform aims to streamline administrative processes by leveraging artificial intelligence, a national digital identity system, and a national smart digital wallet, marking a major push towards a more efficient and citizen-centric digital government.

A Public-Private Powerhouse

The foundation of Idarati X.0 is a series of strategic collaborations. Minister Delegate Amal El Fallah-Seghrouchni oversaw the signing ceremony, which brought together prominent public and private entities.

Public sector signatories include the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA), the National Social Security Fund (CNSS), the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communications, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, and the National Agency for Land Conservation, Cadastre and Cartography (ANCFCC).

Key private sector partners, including digital identity specialists IDAKTO and ShareID, alongside the Moroccan Company for Electronic Services (MSES), will contribute their expertise to define the system’s technical options and functional architecture.

Technology and Security at the Core

The Idarati X.0 super-app will build on Morocco’s existing national e-government platform, Idarati, which serves as a central portal for public service information. The new platform will integrate a national smart digital wallet linked to Morocco’s national identity card, provided by the National Directorate of National Security (DGSN), to enable secure authentication and service access.

From its inception, the project emphasizes robust data protection and governance. By involving the National Commission for the Protection of Personal Data (CNDP) and the Digital Development Agency (ADD), Morocco is embedding “Privacy by Design” and “Security by Design” principles at the core of its architecture. The authorities have set an ambitious six-month timeframe to develop and test the platform.

Morocco’s Broader Digital Ambition

The launch of Idarati X.0 is a key component of Morocco’s accelerating national digital strategy. It follows last month’s announcement of “AI Made in Morocco,” a national artificial intelligence strategy aiming to contribute $10 billion to the GDP by 2030, create 50,000 AI-related jobs, and train 200,000 graduates in AI skills.

Together, these initiatives signal a concerted effort under the leadership of Minister El Fallah-Seghrouchni to position Morocco as a digital leader in the region, ensuring that its citizens and businesses benefit from investments in next-generation technology.
