The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has revealed that more than 2,875 new memberships for businesswomen were registered during the first half of 2025. This is a clear indicator of the growing presence of women in the local economic landscape and the rapid development of a supportive environment for female entrepreneurship in the emirate.
By the Numbers
The new memberships show a diverse range of entrepreneurial activity:
- 2,875+: The total number of new memberships for businesswomen in H1 2025.
- 1,352 “Mubdi’a” Licenses: This was the largest category, making up 47% of the new memberships and reflecting a high demand for creative and home-based business licenses.
- 891 “Tajer Abu Dhabi” Licenses: The second-largest category, accounting for 30% of the new memberships.
- 406 Standard Licenses, 94 Branch Licenses, and 86 Freelance Licenses were also registered.
A Surge in Female Entrepreneurship
The breakdown of the new licenses indicates a dynamic and diversifying entrepreneurial scene. The high number of “Mubdi’a” licenses points to a boom in creative and home-based initiatives, while the significant number of “Tajer Abu Dhabi” licenses confirms a growing interest from female entrepreneurs in formally entering the business world. The Abu Dhabi Chamber also noted that Emirati women are active in a wide variety of economic sectors, including trade, services, creative projects, and non-traditional fields like agriculture and industry.
A Supportive Ecosystem Driving Growth
This remarkable growth is a result of the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council, which operates under the Abu Dhabi Chamber. The council continues its role in supporting and empowering women through training programs, specialized events, and financing and advisory initiatives designed to support female entrepreneurs from the startup phase to expansion.
An Engine for Economic Diversification
This progress reflects Abu Dhabi’s commitment to empowering women as a cornerstone of its sustainable economic diversification plans. Asma Al Fahim, Chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council, stated, “These positive indicators embody the pivotal role played by the Abu Dhabi Chamber and its affiliates… in building a more inclusive and diverse economic system, based on empowering national talents, foremost among them the Emirati woman, as a key partner in the development journey.”.
