The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) has announced 29 commercial deployment agreements for autonomous mobility technologies, marking a significant step in establishing the UAE capital as a global leader in smart and autonomous transport. The announcement was made on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit, part of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week (ADAW).
These landmark deals, involving partners such as K2, LODD Autonomous (LODD), Autologix, and Sinaha, position Abu Dhabi among the first cities globally to create an integrated, multi-modal regulatory and infrastructure environment that supports the transition of autonomous technologies from pilot phases to full-scale commercial deployment.
From Pilot to Commercial Reality
The 29 agreements aim to commercialise proven autonomous solutions across critical sectors. The partnerships will focus on e-commerce, food, and goods delivery with industry giants like Talabat, Noon, and Aramex, as well as healthcare logistics with PureLab and industrial automation applications.
This integrated approach is enabled and regulated by the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC), which has developed an environment to assess commercial viability and conduct extensive real-world testing. By attracting global companies to innovate and scale their technologies, Abu Dhabi is cementing its status as a hub for the next generation of autonomous mobility.
A Vision for an Integrated Autonomous Future
His Excellency Badr Al-Olama, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, highlighted the strategic importance of these agreements. “Abu Dhabi is leading the transformation in smart mobility and logistics, with these 29 commercial pilot agreements marking a decisive step toward a future where autonomous technologies set new standards for transportation and trade,” he said.
“Anchored by the Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries (SAVI) cluster, these agreements translate decades of R&D into tangible commercial deployment. This shift is enabled by the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council’s vision for a coordinated approach in which regulation, infrastructure and industry development advance together, creating a clear path for deployment, commercialisation and wider adoption.”
Pioneering Deployments Across Key Sectors
The initiatives span a wide range of applications. Abu Dhabi-based Sinaha Technology is developing autonomous ground vehicles (AGVs) and intelligent warehouses to reduce emissions and enhance efficiency. In aerial logistics, LODD is leading drone delivery pilots with partners including PureLab, Noon, and Aramex for services ranging from the secure transport of medical samples to scalable parcel delivery.
Further partnerships led by K2 will see AI-enabled electric vehicles and aerial drones transform last- and middle-mile delivery for Talabat and Noon. In heavy goods, a pilot between Autologix and Emirates Post will deploy Level 4 autonomous cargo vehicles, representing a new generation of safer, more efficient, and fully electric urban logistics.
About The Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC)
Established in 2024, the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC) is responsible for setting the strategic direction of Abu Dhabi’s smart and autonomous technologies sector. Driving policy, regulation, investment and innovation through collaboration with government entities, global innovators and industry stakeholders, SASC is shaping a world-class ecosystem that positions Abu Dhabi at the forefront of future technologies and as a leading global hub for intelligent mobility and autonomous systems.
