ADCMC Partners With MBZUAI To Bolster AI-Powered Crisis Management

The Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre Abu Dhabi (ADCMC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), a landmark partnership aimed at strengthening cooperation in technological innovation and artificial intelligence. The agreement was finalized during GITEX Global 2025, highlighting a significant step in the UAE’s digital transformation journey.

A Strategic Alliance For National Resilience

The core objective of the agreement is to align efforts in advancing AI and its applications to support smart transformation initiatives and enhance institutional preparedness for emergencies. This collaboration between a key government entity and a leading academic institution is designed to fortify Abu Dhabi’s crisis management ecosystem, bringing it in line with international best practices.

Dr. Abdulla Hamarain Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of Response and Recovery Sector at ADCMC, emphasized the partnership’s strategic importance. “The Memorandum of Understanding is a strategic step towards leveraging the potential of artificial intelligence to drive innovation and enhance the efficiency of the emergency, crisis, and disaster management ecosystem,” he stated. “It provides a unique platform for exchanging knowledge and expertise, while opening new horizons for research projects and practical applications that will strengthen Abu Dhabi’s crisis preparedness.”

Fostering Innovation And Talent

The MoU is built on several strategic pillars focused on tangible outcomes. It includes provisions for specialized studies and research in AI to develop innovative technical solutions, the exploration of new research ideas, and specialized academic consultations. A key component of the partnership is the commitment to improving the capabilities of national talent through advanced AI training programs. The agreement also provides for knowledge exchange through joint events and conferences, as well as training opportunities for university students at the Centre to prepare them for the job market.

Professor Sami Haddadin, Vice President of Research at MBZUAI, commented on the collaborative vision, “This MoU reflects our shared commitment to turning AI into a practical force for societal resilience. By nurturing national talent through advanced training programs… we are equipping the UAE with the latest AI capabilities.”

Advancing AI For Cybersecurity

A specific focus of the collaboration will be on developing sophisticated AI systems to monitor and analyze cyber threats. This initiative aims to create a more reflexive, data-driven ecosystem capable of anticipating, responding to, and adapting to the evolving landscape of digital security risks, thereby enhancing the nation’s overall security posture.
