ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S), the maritime logistics arm of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, has launched the GCC’s first AI-powered smart port solution to optimize operations across its key petroleum ports. Developed by Innovez One, the advanced system is set to generate significant efficiency gains, dramatically reduce vessel turnaround times, and produce substantial cost savings, reinforcing ADNOC’s commitment to becoming a global leader in AI-driven energy operations.
Revolutionizing Port Operations
The new smart port solution is now active across the UAE’s critical petroleum ports, including Das, Zirku, Mubaraz, Ruwais, and Jebel Dhana. The technology streamlines complex logistical processes, most notably reducing the time required for vessel service sourcing from a standard of three hours down to just 45 seconds. This innovation achieves an up to 90 percent reduction in overall vessel turnaround time, a critical metric in maritime logistics that directly impacts operational flow and capacity.
Quantifiable Impact and Savings
The implementation of the AI system is projected to yield significant financial and operational benefits. ADNOC L&S anticipates annual savings of approximately 3,000 work hours, culminating in an estimated $950,000 (AED 3.5 million) in cost reductions by 2028. Beyond direct savings, the platform is expected to increase jetty utilization by 20 percent and enhance vessel management efficiency by 10 percent, allowing for higher throughput and better asset management across its port facilities.
A Pillar of a Broader AI Strategy
This initiative is a key component of the wider ADNOC Group’s strategic goal to become the world’s most AI-enabled energy company. The smart port system complements other group-wide AI platforms like ENERGYai, which was developed in collaboration with AIQ, Microsoft, and G42 to integrate agentic AI across the entire value chain. ADNOC has previously deployed other successful AI tools, including Neuron 5, which helps cut unplanned shutdowns by up to 50 percent, and an autonomous well-control system across hundreds of wells, showcasing a deep-seated strategy to leverage technology for enhanced performance, safety, and emission reduction.
