In a move to bolster its local entrepreneurial landscape, the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is set to announce the winners of its first-ever Entrepreneurship and Innovation Award this Tuesday. The initiative, launched late last year, aims to cultivate a vibrant ecosystem for startups and SMEs, fostering innovation across key economic sectors.

The award is designed to support high-potential projects and empower entrepreneurs to develop initiatives that add significant value to the local community and economy.

Fostering a Culture of Innovation

The inaugural award attracted substantial participation from across the governorate’s various wilayats. Competing projects underwent a multi-stage evaluation process, assessed on criteria including innovation, feasibility, and potential economic and social impact.

The upcoming ceremony will honor the winning ventures, showcasing successful models that contribute to the region’s economic framework and incentivizing further entrepreneurial activity.

Aligning with Oman Vision 2040

The award is a key component of the governorate’s strategy to empower youth and stimulate entrepreneurial growth, aligning directly with the national objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Khadija bint Saeed Al-Khiyari, Director of the Oman Vision 2040 Office in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate and the award’s Project Manager, emphasized the program’s strategic importance. “The award comes within the governorate’s efforts to support the entrepreneurial movement and empower young people,” she stated. “Innovation is a fundamental element in promoting economic development and improving the efficiency of start-up projects.”

Al-Khiyari also confirmed that the governorate is committed to developing future editions of the award and expanding its scope to discover and support more entrepreneurial talent, working in an integrated manner with relevant local institutions.
