Algerian travel technology leader VOLZ has announced the completion of a historic 600 million Algerian Dinar (approximately $5 million) funding round, marking the largest-ever Dinar-denominated investment in an Algerian startup. The round was led by Tell Group with participation from GIBA Group, the industrial conglomerate behind the Guedila water brand.
The landmark announcement was made during the Algeria Startup Conference 2025, where VOLZ was a prominent sponsor.
A Milestone for the Algerian Tech Ecosystem
This funding round represents two unprecedented achievements for Algeria’s local innovation landscape. It marks the first successful exit for the Algerian Startup Fund (ASF), which realized a return of over 3.35x on its initial investment.
Furthermore, the deal establishes a new benchmark as the largest funding round raised in the local currency by a homegrown startup, signaling growing confidence from local investors in the nation’s burgeoning tech scene.
Hypergrowth Driven by a Localized Model
Founded in 2023, VOLZ has achieved remarkable traction, reporting over 1000% growth in just one year. The company’s success is built on a model that combines digital solutions with a deep understanding of the local market’s specific needs.
VOLZ allows travelers to book flights in Algerian Dinars, compare routes across various airlines, and pay either electronically or via cash-on-delivery. This is complemented by fast, effective customer support and a unique ticket home-delivery service.
A Vision to Reshape African Travel
Mohamed Abdelhadi Mezi, CEO of VOLZ, described the investment as a pivotal moment for the company.
