The fourth edition of the Arab Youth Tech Fellowship Program, an initiative by the Arab Youth Center, is currently underway in Abu Dhabi, gathering 23 young talents from eight Arab nations to delve into the future of technology. The program’s second day focused on Health Tech, showcasing cutting-edge medical innovations and highlighting the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in reshaping healthcare across the MENA region.
Fostering Regional Talent In Emerging Tech
Hosted at the Abu Dhabi Global Market Academy, the 12-day fellowship convenes participants from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, and Morocco. The intensive agenda is structured around four critical tracks: Artificial Intelligence, Health Technology, Climate Tech & Sustainability, and Web3, aiming to cultivate a new generation of Arab tech leaders. The program underscores the region’s commitment to building a knowledge-based economy by empowering its youth with skills in future-defining sectors.
AI’s Role In Modern Healthcare
The Health Tech theme was kicked off with a keynote emphasizing the need for intelligent solutions to improve quality of life and healthcare efficiency in the Arab world. Dr. Bashayer Mohammed Mousa from the University of Sharjah presented key insights on AI-powered health technologies, explaining how innovations in smart data and medical analysis can lead to more accurate diagnostic tools and personalized treatment plans. Her session highlighted the opportunities for young researchers to drive meaningful advancements in the medical field through AI.
Gulf Region Debuts Human Digital Twin Technology
A significant highlight of the day was the first-ever presentation of the Human Digital Twin experience in the Gulf. In an interactive workshop streamed from Imperial College London, Dr. Jamil El-Imad demonstrated how digital twin applications can create virtual replicas of the human body. This groundbreaking technology allows medical professionals to monitor vital signs in real-time, predict disease progression with high accuracy, and test treatment protocols virtually before applying them to patients. This innovation promises to enhance diagnostic precision, reduce costs associated with traditional testing, and optimize the use of healthcare resources.
Equipping Founders With Essential Skills
Connecting technology with entrepreneurship, the program included a practical workshop on startup pitching and storytelling led by Hind Khalifat from Daraya Speaker Platform. Participants learned how to craft compelling narratives to present their ideas effectively to investors and stakeholders. The day concluded with a visit to StartAD, Abu Dhabi’s startup accelerator, where the fellows gained firsthand knowledge of the support systems available for tech startups and the UAE’s efforts to foster an innovation-driven ecosystem.
