ATME, the digital assets exchange licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), has entered a strategic partnership with Shariyah Review Bureau (SRB), the Kingdom’s first CBB-licensed Sharia advisory firm. The collaboration, announced during Fintech Forward 2025, is set to drive the growth of Sharia-compliant digital asset solutions in Bahrain and across the MENA region.

A Strategic Alliance For Sharia-Compliant Innovation

This partnership combines ATME’s regulated platform for real-world asset (RWA) tokenization with SRB’s deep expertise in Islamic finance. Under the agreement, ATME will facilitate capital raising for companies engaged in Sharia-compliant finance through tokenization. In parallel, SRB will provide its comprehensive Sharia advisory, certification, and audit services to ensure all projects launched on the ATME platform strictly adhere to the principles and rulings governing Islamic finance.

Alaa Al-Shuwaikh, Chief Risk Officer at ATME, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating, “Our collaboration with SRB adds a critical layer of Sharia credibility to ATME’s platform. As we introduce new models of portfolio diversification and capital formation through tokenization, aligning with Islamic financial principles is essential to address the requirements of regional investors and businesses.”

Bridging Blockchain and Islamic Finance Principles

The initiative represents a timely convergence of blockchain technology and Sharia-driven finance, aiming to build a more inclusive and ethically grounded financial ecosystem. By integrating rigorous Sharia oversight into the tokenization process, the partnership seeks to foster trust and accessibility for investors seeking Sharia assurance in the burgeoning digital asset space.

Raafat Al Shalabi, Assistant General Manager at Shariyah Review Bureau, commented on the forward-looking nature of the agreement. “This collaboration with ATME stems from our progressive approach to digital Islamic finance using Real World Asset (RWA) Tokenization and our desire to shape a Sharia-compliant future for blockchain-based financial products,” he said. “Working together, we seek to foster a more ethical and accessible ecosystem for investors seeking Sharia assurance in tokenized assets.”
