Bahrain’s venture and innovation landscape has a newly consolidated force, as Spring officially launches as a unified platform. Formerly known as Spring Venture Services and Spring Studios, the organization has integrated its founder support, venture building, ecosystem design, and capital access services under a single brand and mission to drive innovation across the MENA region.
From Venture Studio to Ecosystem Builder
The rebrand marks a significant evolution for the organization. Spring began as a hands-on venture studio, building companies from the ground up alongside ambitious founders. However, the team recognized that successful startups require more than direct support; they need robust ecosystems, powerful investor networks, and strategic partnerships to scale effectively. This transition reflects Spring’s growth into an entity that combines the focused discipline of a venture studio with the expansive reach of an ecosystem builder.
“At Spring, we power what is next for founders, industries, and innovation ecosystems,” said Zainab Khamis, Managing Director of Spring. “We began by building ventures hands-on but quickly saw that while capital is abundant, investable, ready-to-scale startups are rare. That is the gap we are closing.”
A Five-Pillar Strategy for Impact
Spring’s model is built on five interconnected pillars designed to provide comprehensive support for sustainable growth: Capital, Capability, Ecosystem, Partnerships, and Network. This strategic framework ensures that both individual founders and the broader ecosystems they operate in receive the necessary resources to thrive. The platform focuses on turning bold ideas into tangible outcomes by designing accelerators, managing funds, building startups, and running national programs.
“Innovation doesn’t fail for lack of ideas; it fails when ideas can’t be executed,” Khamis added. “We make innovation executable and are committed to lasting impact across the region.”
Backed by Regional and Global Partners
Spring is supported by a powerful coalition of investors and partners, lending significant credibility and connectivity to the startups within its network. Key backers include Salica Investments (formerly Hambro Perks), Faraday Investments, and Bahrain’s Al-Waha Fund of Funds. These collaborations, along with other regional and international partners, provide startups with vital resources and access to markets across MENA and beyond.
