The popular super app Careem is relaunching its Dirhams for Delays campaign, extending its on-time food delivery guarantee to customers in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The initiative underscores Careem Food’s confidence in its delivery network by automatically compensating users if their meal arrives later than the promised time.
An Automated Guarantee of Punctuality
Under the campaign, customers whose orders exceed the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) will automatically receive credit back for the delay. The refunded amount is sent directly to the user’s Careem Pay wallet, providing a seamless and hassle-free compensation experience. The move is designed to build customer trust and highlight the platform’s commitment to reliable service.
Prioritizing Safety Alongside Speed
A key feature of the “Dirhams for Delays” initiative is its focus on the well-being of its delivery captains. Captains are not shown the customer-facing ETA and are never held responsible or penalized for any delays. Instead, they are encouraged to prioritize safe driving habits and are eligible for weekly safe driving bonuses, ensuring that punctuality does not come at the expense of road safety.
Technology Driving On-Time Deliveries
Careem’s ability to offer this guarantee is powered by its sophisticated logistics technology. The platform uses an advanced dispatch system that assigns deliveries based on the captain’s proximity to both the restaurant and the customer’s location. In conjunction with close collaboration with restaurant partners to ensure prompt order preparation, this system has resulted in 9 out of every 10 Careem Food orders arriving on time in 2024.
