The Damascus and Rural Damascus Chamber of Industry, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), has launched the first phase of the global “Start and Improve Your Business” (SIYB) training program. The initiative aims to bolster the local entrepreneurial ecosystem by equipping aspiring founders and small business owners with world-class skills and knowledge.
Fostering Entrepreneurship Through Global Standards
The program is designed to empower entrepreneurs through a comprehensive training path based on international standards. It consists of two integrated packages focusing on generating a business idea and launching the venture.
The training targets a broad segment of the community, including aspiring entrepreneurs, owners of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), recent graduates seeking self-employment opportunities, and founders of service-based and digital projects.
A Comprehensive Curriculum For Market Readiness
The training sessions cover a wide range of essential business topics, including developing an entrepreneurial mindset, identifying market investment opportunities, and conducting competitor analysis to define a unique competitive advantage.
Participants will also delve into practical skills such as cost estimation, pricing strategies, financial management, and cash flow analysis. The curriculum is rounded out with modules on modern promotion techniques and effective customer communication, adopting the ILO’s interactive methodology to enhance decision-making skills and prepare entrepreneurs for real-world market challenges.
A Strategic Push For Economic Growth
This initiative is part of a broader strategic partnership between the Chamber and the ILO to enhance entrepreneurship and support SMEs in Syria. In his opening remarks, Mohammed Ayman Al-Mawlawi, Chairman of the Damascus and Rural Damascus Chamber of Industry, highlighted the significant value the program offers participants.
“The continuity in organizing such specialized courses is crucial for their pivotal role in supporting the local economy,” stated Al-Mawlawi. He also encouraged participants to provide transparent feedback to ensure the program’s content continually evolves to meet their needs and maximize the success of their ventures.
