du Launches 1GW AI Park to Power Sovereign AI Ambitions in UAE

3 Min Read

In a significant move to advance the UAE’s national AI strategy, leading telecommunications and digital services provider du has announced two major infrastructure projects. The company is launching a massive AI Park and a new National Hybrid AI platform, positioning itself as a premier provider for sovereign AI deployment and reinforcing the UAE’s ambition to become a global AI leader.

The 1GW AI Park

At the heart of the announcement is du’s AI Park, a 500,000-square-metre facility to be developed in Warsan, Dubai. This ambitious project is designed to feature multiple liquid-cooled hyperscale data centres, which will deliver up to 1 gigawatt (GW) of capacity over a five-year phased deployment. The park is engineered to support the demanding workloads of advanced AI applications within a sovereign and fully compliant environment. Beyond data centres, the park will serve as a comprehensive ecosystem, hosting AI research laboratories, start-up incubators, and sovereign hybrid AI production clusters to foster innovation.

A National Hybrid AI Platform

Complementing the physical infrastructure is the launch of the National Hybrid AI platform, operated under du’s subsidiary, du Tech. This platform offers government entities and enterprises integrated services to develop and deploy AI applications securely. It allows organizations to build applications in their preferred cloud environment and then deploy them on du Tech’s sovereign infrastructure. The platform leverages the National Hypercloud, advanced 5G and fibre networks, and partnerships with hyperscalers to provide a robust, secure, and high-performance environment for AI development.

Bolstering the UAE’s Regional AI Leadership

These initiatives are strategically designed to address critical barriers that organizations face when scaling AI applications, particularly around data governance and security. By providing UAE-based sovereign infrastructure, du ensures its offerings align with national data policies, providing full auditability, transparency, and compliance. The AI Park, supported by du’s extensive local and global cable connectivity, is set to establish Dubai as a regional hub for AI research and innovation, attracting top talent, startups, and enterprises from across the globe.
