In a significant move to accelerate its digital transformation, Dubai has approved a new package of strategic artificial intelligence initiatives. The decision, led by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, aims to solidify the emirate’s standing as a leading global technology hub by embedding AI across government and key economic sectors.
Powering Progress With AI Infrastructure Empowerment Platform
A cornerstone of the new strategy is the ‘AI Infrastructure Empowerment Platform’. This initiative will provide government entities with a secure, integrated digital environment equipped with advanced infrastructure and ready-to-use smart services. The platform is designed to fast-track AI adoption, improve operational efficiency, and reduce costs through shared resources. A key focus will be on strengthening cybersecurity and governance frameworks to ensure the protection of all government data.
A Unified Push With The Dubai AI Acceleration Taskforce
To ensure a cohesive and aligned approach, the committee approved the formation of the ‘Dubai AI Acceleration Taskforce’. This new body will coordinate efforts among various government entities, aligning their individual AI strategies with the emirate’s overarching digital transformation goals. The taskforce was established following extensive consultations between the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Chief AI Officers from 27 government entities, identifying key opportunities for enhanced collaboration and decision-making.
Cultivating Future Giants With The Unicorn 30 Programme
To further fuel its startup ecosystem, Dubai has launched the ‘Unicorn 30 Programme’. Developed by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy with input from 80 local and international companies, the initiative is designed to accelerate the growth of 30 promising startups in emerging sectors. The primary goal is to help these companies achieve unicorn status, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global hub for entrepreneurship. The programme, operating under the Dubai Founders HQ umbrella, includes ten initiatives focused on financing, growth, and regulatory support to help startups scale globally.
