Dubai Chamber Introduces Sustainability 365 To Embed Purpose In The Private Sector

3 Min Read

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has launched ‘Sustainability 365,’ a major new initiative designed to integrate environmental and social responsibility into the core operations of the private sector. This year-long program aims to shift corporate focus from short-term awareness campaigns to sustained, actionable impact, building on the success of the chamber’s long-running Sustainability Week.

From Awareness Week To Year-Round Action

‘Sustainability 365’ represents a significant evolution of the chamber’s previous efforts, which began with the establishment of Sustainability Week in 2015 by its Centre for Responsible Business. The new format expands the scope and duration, reflecting a deeper commitment to fostering a culture where social responsibility is an integral part of business strategy rather than a temporary focus. To date, more than 720 companies have participated in the chamber’s various sustainability initiatives.

A Purpose-Driven Framework

The initiative operates under the theme “Purpose in Action: Empowering Communities Through Responsible Business,” emphasizing the long-term benefits of purpose-driven strategies for both businesses and the wider community. It encourages companies to look beyond profit and consider their impact on society and the environment.

Maha Al Gargawi, Vice President of Business Advocacy at Dubai Chambers, stated, “The launch of the Sustainability 365 initiative marks a pivotal moment in this journey. It is not simply a change of name or an extension of the programme’s duration; it reflects our firm conviction that social responsibility is an integral part of business culture and a driver of positive change in the community.”

Key Components of The Initiative

‘Sustainability 365’ is structured around several key events and platforms designed to engage and equip business leaders. The program kicks off with The Purpose Forum, a high-level gathering for CEOs and senior executives. This is followed by the Business with Purpose Roundtable, which will feature an interactive simulation to help participants navigate complex sustainability challenges. Throughout October, the Purpose Academy will host a series of expert-led virtual sessions to provide businesses with the practical knowledge and tools needed to implement effective, purpose-driven strategies.
