At the landmark technology event GITEX GLOBAL 2025, Dubai Chambers highlighted the critical role of digital transformation in expanding cross-border business opportunities and cementing Dubai’s position as a leading global capital for the digital economy. The organisation showcased its strategic initiatives aimed at fostering innovation and supporting the growth of startups and SMEs within the emirate.
Powering Growth Through AI and Digital Platforms
During a keynote at the ‘Power Summit,’ H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, Director General of Dubai Chambers, emphasised the growing influence of artificial intelligence and digital platforms in accelerating economic growth. He stressed that rapid technological advancements are fundamentally reshaping international trade, making it faster, smarter, and more efficient. H.E. Lootah explained that digital transformation levels the playing field for startups and small businesses by lowering market entry costs and simplifying access to global customers and supply chains.
Record Support for Digital Startups
Highlighting the tangible results of its efforts, Dubai Chambers revealed the significant success of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. In 2024 alone, the chamber supported over 1,200 digital startups, marking a remarkable 120% increase compared to the previous year. Initiatives such as the “Business Sectors Platform” are instrumental in this success, simplifying procedures and creating a clear pathway for entrepreneurs to launch and scale their ventures.
Aligning with the D33 Economic Agenda
H.E. Lootah connected these initiatives to the emirate’s ambitious economic goals under the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). He pointed to the pivotal role of the ‘Dubai Business Forum,’ a unique platform integrating physical and digital ecosystems to unite entrepreneurs, investors, and support organisations. As a key D33 initiative, the forum is designed to help achieve two primary targets by 2033: supporting the growth of 30 Dubai-based startups into global unicorns and assisting 400 SMEs in their international expansion.
