In a significant move to bolster Dubai’s standing as a global maritime hub, the Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA), part of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, has announced the launch of “Marsa,” the first unified digital platform for managing and leasing marine berths across the Emirate. The announcement, made during GITEX Global, signals a major step towards the complete digital transformation of the city’s marina sector.
A Unified Digital Hub for Dubai’s Marinas
The Marsa platform is engineered to streamline and automate the entire lifecycle of marine berth leasing. By consolidating leasing contracts from all marinas in Dubai into a single system, it offers a simplified and efficient experience for vessel owners and operators. Key features include online berth booking, automated fee calculation, integrated invoicing, and smart payment gateways, which collectively aim to reduce paperwork and manual processes. The platform also integrates directly with the DMA’s existing licensing systems, creating a seamless regulatory and operational environment.
Driving Efficiency and Transparency
Marsa is designed to enhance operational oversight for both government entities and marina operators. The platform features intelligent dashboards that provide real-time data and reports on crucial metrics such as occupancy rates, revenues, and compliance levels. This data-driven approach fosters greater transparency and enables smart governance within the sector. According to Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the DMA, the platform allows stakeholders to manage leasing, maintenance, and accounting operations within a single digital ecosystem, significantly boosting efficiency.
Enhancing Dubai’s Global Maritime Position
The launch of Marsa aligns with Dubai’s broader vision of transitioning to a fully integrated digital economy. H.E. Nasser Al Neyadi, CEO of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, highlighted that the DMA currently oversees 20 marinas with a capacity exceeding 4,200 marine vessels, making Marsa a pivotal project for managing this vital sector. The initiative is expected to enhance customer satisfaction through its user-friendly interface and secure electronic payments, reinforcing Dubai’s commitment to developing advanced smart services and cementing its reputation as a global leader in maritime innovation.
