Dubai Municipality is taking center stage at GITEX Global 2025, showcasing a portfolio of advanced digital projects designed to accelerate Dubai’s evolution into a world-leading smart city. Taking place from October 13 to 17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the initiatives highlight the integration of cutting-edge technologies like AI, IoT, and GIS to revolutionize urban planning, city management, and public services. This participation underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging technology to create a more sustainable, efficient, and innovative urban environment, aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

His Excellency Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, commented on the emirate’s vision, stating, “Dubai has cemented its position as a global hub and meeting point for experts and innovators across sectors that shape the quality of life of societies. By building advanced digital infrastructure, we ensure readiness for future shifts and deliver real-time, predictive, and efficient services that enhance customer satisfaction, reduce costs, and contribute to community happiness.”

A Centralized Urban Command Center

A key highlight is Dubai Live, an integrated digital twin platform providing real-time monitoring and control over the city’s diverse operations. The system offers live oversight of construction activities from licensing to completion and uses an Urban Planning Observatory to analyze data on buildings, infrastructure, and demographic densities. By connecting with systems monitoring vehicle, aviation, and marine movements, Dubai Live centralizes critical information to support rapid emergency response, strategic urban planning, and data-driven investment decisions.

AI-Driven Real Estate and Inspection

The Municipality is also presenting its DANA project, a smart city management solution that combines GIS and AI to analyze and deliver comprehensive data on specialized buildings in the real estate sector. This platform enhances regulatory oversight and provides accurate smart building information, bolstering decision-making for stakeholders across the industry.

Furthering its commitment to compliance and efficiency, Dubai Municipality showcased two pioneering inspection systems. The Smart Gold and Jewellery Testing Lab, the first of its kind globally, uses IoT and AI for self-service testing of precious metals, delivering results in under a minute. Additionally, the AI-powered Smart Inspection System is set to accelerate municipal inspection processes, ensuring higher efficiency and smarter service delivery.

Revolutionizing Waste Management with Tech

In its push for sustainability, Dubai is presenting its Smart City Cleaning Operations Management System, a unified digital platform for managing city-wide waste collection. The system facilitates data-driven planning and optimizes field performance. This is complemented by RASID, a satellite-based system that monitors waste collection vehicles 24/7, providing real-time data on performance and status. These projects are central to Dubai’s goal of becoming the cleanest and most sustainable city in the world.
