In a significant move to bolster economic inclusion, the Sohag Governorate has honored 32 graduates with disabilities from a dedicated entrepreneurship program. The intensive three-day workshop, held from January 19-21, is a key component of the third phase of the “My Family is My Strength” initiative.

The program was launched through a strategic collaboration between the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA), and the Sohag Governorate, aiming to provide a clear pathway to economic independence for participants.

A Collaborative Push For Economic Empowerment

The graduation ceremony was attended by Sohag Governor Major General Dr. Abdel Fattah Serag, alongside key project leaders including Asmaa Abu Saree, Project Manager at the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, and Dr. Osama Mahmoud, a trainer from MSMEDA.

Governor Serag congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed the governorate’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities. The collaboration underscores a unified government effort to create tangible opportunities for economic empowerment within the community.

Building Skills For Market Needs

The program was designed to equip participants with essential entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to establish and manage small and micro-enterprises. The curriculum focused on aligning their capabilities with the specific needs of the local labor market.

“The program aimed to develop the participants’ skills and qualify them to establish small and micro-enterprises in a manner commensurate with their abilities and the needs of the labor market,” Governor Serag explained.

Fostering Independence and Social Inclusion

In his closing remarks, the governor emphasized that the entrepreneurship program is a crucial step toward supporting the economic independence of people with disabilities and promoting their active participation in society.

He highlighted that the initiative provides not only training but also technical support and access to appropriate financing opportunities. The governorate pledged to continue supporting such programs, viewing them as vital for achieving social justice and equal opportunities for all citizens.
