Egypt National Council For Women Transforms Aswan Villages Into Entrepreneurship Hubs

The Aswan branch of Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW) is spearheading a significant grassroots initiative to foster economic empowerment and entrepreneurial skills in the rural villages of Edfu and Nasr Al-Nuba. The programs, part of the national “Decent Life” and “Development of the Egyptian Family” projects, are transforming these communities into hubs of local enterprise, reaching over 1,000 beneficiaries weekly.

The initiative has received strong backing from Major General Dr. Ismail Kamal, the Governor of Aswan, who has directed all relevant authorities to coordinate efforts and expand activities aimed at economic empowerment and raising community awareness.

Cultivating Entrepreneurial Skills

Dr. Hoda Mustafa, rapporteur of the NCW’s Aswan branch, reported the successful completion of five intensive entrepreneurship training courses in the villages of Edfu. These five-day programs targeted 150 women and girls, equipping them with essential business skills.

The curriculum covered a range of critical topics, including financial literacy, strategic planning, effective marketing, and core entrepreneurial concepts such as innovation, time management, and priority setting. The primary goal is to empower participants with the skills and confidence needed to launch and manage their own small and micro-enterprises.

Driving Community Awareness

Alongside the technical training, the NCW branch organized 20 “Jalsat Al-Dawar,” or community awareness sessions, engaging nearly 1,000 women, men, and youth across numerous villages in the Nasr Al-Nuba center.
These sessions addressed vital societal issues beyond business, including population growth, the risks of child marriage, reproductive health, and the importance of positive parenting. This holistic approach aims to build a supportive and informed community environment where new ventures and empowered individuals can thrive.
