Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity recently participated in a high-level Arab event in Doha, Qatar, focused on fostering entrepreneurship among people with disabilities and productive families. The event, titled “Innovative Marketing for Entrepreneurship Projects for People with Disabilities and Productive Families,” brought together regional leaders to discuss leveraging digital platforms for economic empowerment.
A Pan-Arab Dialogue on Digital Marketing
The session convened key figures from across the region, including representatives from the Arab League, the Union of Arab Chambers, and Lebanon’s Tripoli Chamber of Commerce. The core agenda was to explore the role of e-commerce and digital marketing in creating market access for SMEs founded by people with disabilities and productive families. Participants shared various national initiatives and successful digital marketing strategies aimed at supporting these vital segments of the economy.
Spotlight on Egyptian Initiatives
Ramy Abbas, a consultant for the Ministry of Social Solidarity, presented Egypt’s multi-pronged strategy to support its local artisans and entrepreneurs. The presentation highlighted the success of the “Deyarna” exhibitions, a long-standing initiative by the ministry that provides physical marketing outlets for products made by productive families and individuals with disabilities.
Abbas also drew attention to the role of the “Souk Masr” electronic market in providing essential training for SME owners, equipping them with the digital skills needed to thrive online. A key announcement was the upcoming launch of the “Ayady” platform, a collaborative project with the Rural Industries Support Fund. This new digital marketplace is designed not only to market products locally but also to create new export opportunities and facilitate participation in international exhibitions.
Addressing Regional Challenges
The event also served as a platform for entrepreneurs to voice the challenges they face in their respective countries. The discussion provided valuable insights into common obstacles, which was followed by an overview of how various governments are providing the necessary support to help these entrepreneurs overcome hurdles and scale their businesses. The session concluded with attendees touring an exhibition that showcased the products and innovations from the participating entrepreneurs.
