Two leading Egyptian startups, Bekia and Chefaa, have been selected to represent North Africa at the prestigious Africa Tech Summit Nairobi. They are part of a curated cohort of 12 startups chosen to pitch their v

ntures live to global investors at the summit’s annual Investment Showcase, taking place from February 11–12.
The event is recognized as one of the continent’s most influential tech gatherings, serving as a critical gateway for African ventures seeking access to global capital, strategic partnerships, and market expansion opportunities.

Egypt’s Innovators Tackling Systemic Challenges

The inclusion of Bekia and Chefaa highlights Egypt’s growing role in developing scalable solutions for critical market needs across the continent. Both startups are addressing large-scale systemic issues within essential services.

Bekia is tackling inefficient waste collection and low recycling rates through a digital platform. The service improves disposal workflows for users and helps businesses significantly reduce their environmental impact.

Chefaa is focused on the pharmaceutical sector, improving patient access to recurring prescriptions. The platform addresses major compliance challenges for patients managing chronic illnesses within fragmented pharmacy markets.

The Egyptian ventures will be joining a pan-African lineup from Kenya, Nigeria, and Zambia, with business models spanning AI procurement, blockchain payments, digital healthcare, and climate tech.

Kenya and Nigeria each secured four spots in the cohort. Kenyan startups include Innobid, an AI platform for procurement; Pretium, a blockchain payment solution; TIBU Health, a primary care provider; and Zerobionic, a unique startup turning plastic waste into AI-powered humanoid robots that translate speech into real-time sign language.

Nigerian representatives include Niteon, a trade enablement platform; Timart, an SME inventory management tool; Vepay for cross-border payments; and Winich Farms, which connects smallholder farmers to markets.

The cohort is completed by Zambia’s Bosso Africa, which streamlines construction material sourcing, and the pan-African venture Hizo, which is building new infrastructure for intra-African payments.

Unlocking Capital For High-Potential Ventures

According to Mark Mugenwa, Business Development Manager at Africa Tech Summit, the showcase is designed to connect high-potential ventures with the capital they need to scale.
“Driving investment is the core goal of the Africa Tech Summit,” he said. Mugenwa added that this year’s cohort features startups solving Africa’s challenges through models that are both sustainable and scalable, with strong signs of market traction.
The live pitching event will place these 12 startups directly in front of an audience of active investors, at a time when the African ecosystem is increasingly prioritizing companies that combine impact with clear, infrastructure-level relevance.
