Egypt’s BasharSoft Acquires iCareer in a Landmark Move to Consolidate the JobTech Sector

4 Min Read

In a significant move set to reshape Egypt’s employment landscape, BasharSoft, the parent company of leading job platforms Wuzzuf and Forasna, has announced its full acquisition of iCareer. The deal brings together BasharSoft’s powerful technology and vast online reach with iCareer’s deep expertise in career consultancy and large-scale employment programs, creating the nation’s largest integrated employment and career services group.

A Strategic Consolidation for Regional Expansion

This acquisition is a cornerstone of BasharSoft’s new strategy to consolidate key players in the JobTech and HR sectors across the Middle East and Africa. While solidifying its leadership position in Egypt, the move is also a clear signal of its regional ambitions. Building on its recent official launch in Saudi Arabia, the company aims to leverage the combined entity’s strengths to penetrate deeper into the GCC markets.

The long-term vision is to become the primary private sector partner for governments in shaping public policy and enhancing labor market efficiency through data-driven insights, upskilling, and improved job matching at scale.

Integrating Technology and Field Expertise

The synergy between the two companies creates a comprehensive ecosystem addressing the region’s core employment challenges. BasharSoft’s platforms, which have connected over 9 million job seekers with 100,000 employers, will now be enhanced by iCareer’s established relationships with universities, government bodies, and top multinational corporations. As part of the deal, BasharSoft also acquired Recruitera, an Applicant Tracking Software (ATS) developed by iCareer.

The integration of Recruitera into Wuzzuf and Forasna will offer employers a streamlined workflow for posting jobs, managing applications, and accessing analytics, significantly boosting recruitment efficiency. For universities, the partnership provides tools to embed practical employability skills directly into their curricula, better preparing graduates for the modern workforce.

From Recruitment to Human Capital Management

With this acquisition, BasharSoft is accelerating its evolution from a recruitment-focused company to a leading Human Capital Management (HCM) powerhouse in the MEA region. The company plans to leverage AI to enhance its matchmaking algorithms, enabling job seekers to create profiles and employers to post jobs with greater ease and accuracy. Having already impacted over 10 million people, the combined entity aims to empower 100 million by 2030. BasharSoft is actively pursuing further acquisitions and is on a clear roadmap to become one of the first Egyptian tech companies to IPO within the next three years, targeting revenues of $25 million and planning to expand its team by 100 professionals.
