Egypt’s Beltone Holding Expands Into Private Equity to Support Startups From Seed to IPO

3 Min Read

Beltone Holding, a prominent Egypt-based financial services firm, has announced the launch of a new Private Equity platform. The move significantly expands its multi-stage investment strategy, complementing its existing Beltone Venture Capital arm and solidifying its commitment to supporting regional companies from their earliest stages through to pre-IPO.

A Seamless Capital Journey

The new platform is designed to provide growth-stage capital to companies entering advanced phases of expansion. This creates an integrated ecosystem where high-performing startups can seamlessly transition from venture-backed growth to institutional-scale investment without needing to look for external capital partners. The strategy addresses a well-known structural gap in the MENA funding landscape, where growth-stage capital is often scarcer than early-stage venture funding.

Bridging the Regional Growth Stage Gap

By introducing a private equity layer, Beltone aims to “double down on the best performing companies” within its own venture portfolio, creating an internal capital bridge as they mature. The platform is expected to complete four to five investments within its first 12 to 18 months, with a typical holding period of three to five years. While focused on its portfolio winners, the private equity arm will also consider opportunities in non-VC-backed small and medium-sized enterprises across the MENA region.

Unified Leadership and Strategy

The Private Equity platform will be led by Ali Mokhtar, who also serves as the CEO and Managing Partner of Beltone Venture Capital. This unified leadership ensures a cohesive investment strategy and reinforces Beltone’s positioning as a long-term, end-to-end capital partner for ambitious founders.

Building on Venture Capital Momentum

The expansion builds upon the strong track record established by Beltone Venture Capital, which has been active since its launch in 2023. The VC arm currently manages $55 million in assets and has backed 18 companies, completing four exits to date. Its recent participation in Moroccan proptech Yakeey’s $15 million Series A round highlights its continued activity in backing promising regional startups.
