Egypt’s Desert Research Center (DRC) has launched the second phase of its Entrepreneurship Club, kicking off the initiative with a workshop titled “From Lab to Factory.” The event was organized in collaboration with Arish University and aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and industrial application, fostering a new wave of innovation within the country.
From Lab To Factory
The core objective of the initiative is to create a clear pathway for transforming outputs from scientific research into commercially viable products and startups. According to Dr. Hossam Shawky, President of the Desert Research Center, the program is designed to support the conversion of research into tangible products that align with the state’s vision for a knowledge-based economy built on innovation. The inaugural workshop focused on identifying and developing applicable ideas that can become entrepreneurial projects, contributing to Egypt’s sustainable development goals.
A Strategic Academic Collaboration
This initiative is part of a broader cooperation protocol between the Desert Research Center and Arish University, formalizing their joint efforts to support the local innovation ecosystem. Dr. Hassan Al-Damardash, President of Arish University, highlighted the importance of this partnership in linking academic knowledge with the practical requirements of the job market and the needs of society. The collaboration brings together researchers, academics, and students to foster an environment where theoretical knowledge can be applied to solve real-world challenges.
Fostering A Knowledge-Based Economy
The launch of the Entrepreneurship Club’s second phase underscores a national commitment to leveraging scientific assets for economic growth. By providing a structured platform for researchers and students, the DRC and its partners are actively working to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset within the academic community. The program aims to ensure that innovative research does not remain confined to laboratories but evolves into successful enterprises that can drive the national economy forward.
