Egypt’s E-commerce Platform Wuilt Secures $2 Million to Fuel Regional Expansion

3 Min Read

The Egyptian e-commerce company Wuilt has announced the closing of a $2 million funding round, aimed at supporting its regional expansion and its mission to empower individuals and businesses to enter the world of digital commerce.

By the Numbers

  • $2 Million: The value of the new funding round.
  • 20,000+: New merchants who joined the platform in just a few months after it went free.
  • Q4 2025: The target for launching its free service in the UAE.
  • Q1 2026: The target for expanding into the rest of the GCC and Turkey.

A Radical Pivot to a ‘Freemium’ Model

In a bold strategic shift in April 2025, Wuilt transformed its business model by launching its core service completely free of charge in Egypt, abandoning traditional subscription fees. This move proved highly successful, attracting over 20,000 new merchants who can now create digital stores, manage products, and integrate with local shipping and payment companies at no initial cost. Wuilt’s new model focuses on generating revenue through value-added services like Wuilt Shipments, Wuilt Pay, and Wuilt Wallet.

Backed by a Powerhouse of Regional Investors

The funding round saw participation from a prominent group of investors, including Flat6Labs, MTF VC, Hub71, and JIMCO, the investment arm of Abdul Latif Jameel. This strong backing from key players across the MENA ecosystem is a significant vote of confidence in Wuilt’s new strategy and its potential for regional dominance.

About Wuilt

Founded in 2019 by Ahmed Rostom and Mahmoud Metwally, Wuilt is an Egyptian technology company with a team spanning Cairo and Abu Dhabi. The company provides a comprehensive e-commerce platform with locally-designed solutions to support the growth of digital commerce in the region.

Looking Ahead

With this new capital, Wuilt plans to launch its free service in the UAE in the fourth quarter of 2025, followed by the rest of the Gulf and Turkey in early 2026. The company is also preparing to launch a suite of AI-enhanced features designed to simplify daily operations for merchants, reduce complexity, and improve efficiency, further solidifying its position as a key enabler for e-commerce in the MENA region.
