Dr. Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, recently visited the Digital Egypt Innovation Center in Qena, located at South Valley University. The visit highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering regional tech ecosystems by engaging directly with startups, trainees, and freelancers benefiting from the national Creativa Innovation Hubs initiative.
Ministerial Visit Underscores National Strategy Success
During his visit, Minister Talaat met with a diverse group of young professionals, including incubated startup founders, freelancers, students, and graduates of the center’s programs. He emphasized that the success stories emerging from Creativa Qena reflect the significant progress within Egypt’s ICT sector. The Minister noted that these achievements validate the core vision behind establishing the Digital Egypt Innovation Centers: to empower youth with high-demand digital skills, enabling them to enter the freelance market and pursue technology entrepreneurship through the hub’s training, innovation support, and incubation services.
Local Startups Showcase Digital Solutions
The event provided a platform for entrepreneurs and emerging companies to present their innovative projects to the Minister. The showcased solutions spanned multiple sectors, demonstrating the breadth of talent being nurtured at the hub. Key areas included software development, remote education platforms, human resources technology, and digital design and arts. Tour of Advanced Technology Labs
Concluding his visit, Minister Talaat toured the center’s state-of-the-art facilities. The tour included specialized labs equipped with the latest technologies in programming, robotics, and 3D printing, which form the technical backbone for the training and product development activities at the hub. The visit was attended by key officials, including Eng. Ahmed Al-Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and Dr. Ahmed Akkawy, President of South Valley University.
