The Innovators and Geniuses Support Fund (ISF), in collaboration with the Fekretak Sherketak (Your Idea is Your Company) center under the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), recently organized a key informational session in Cairo. The event, titled “Types and Procedures for Establishing Startups,” aimed to equip young entrepreneurs with the essential knowledge to navigate the legal and regulatory landscape of launching a business in Egypt. This initiative aligns with the directives of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ayman Ashour, to bolster innovation and entrepreneurship as core pillars of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research 2030.
Fostering a New Generation of Entrepreneurs
Dr. Tamer Hamouda, Executive Director of the ISF, highlighted that the session is part of an ongoing series designed to cultivate an entrepreneurial culture across Egypt. He emphasized the fund’s commitment to transforming innovative concepts into viable, registered companies that can contribute to the national economy, create new job opportunities, and strengthen the country’s innovation ecosystem. The initiative focuses on providing the foundational legal and organizational knowledge necessary for young innovators to build sustainable businesses.
From Idea to Incorporation
During the session, representatives from both the ISF and the Fekretak Sherketak center provided a comprehensive overview of the startup creation process. The discussion walked attendees through the critical steps, from refining an initial idea and selecting the appropriate legal structure to navigating official registration procedures and securing the necessary operational licenses. A key focus was placed on understanding the legal framework to ensure the long-term success and compliance of new ventures in a competitive market.
Empowering Gen Z Innovators
The event saw significant participation from students enrolled in the GEN Z incubation program, one of ISF’s flagship initiatives for supporting young entrepreneurs. Attendees, who hailed from Cairo and several other governorates, engaged in productive discussions about translating ideas into market-ready projects. The session provided a valuable platform for aspiring founders to gain clarity on the practical aspects of building a company and contributing to a new generation of innovators in Egypt.
