Egypt University of Science and Technology (MUST) has won first place in the Enactus Egypt National Competition for 2025, a major event that saw more than 30 university teams from across the country compete. The university’s winning project, “Bokra,” is a developmental initiative focused on sustainability, health, and agriculture.

By the Numbers

  • 1st Place: The rank achieved by the Egypt University of Science and Technology team.
  • 30+: Egyptian university teams participated in the competition.
  • 19th: Consecutive year that Orange Egypt has sponsored the competition.

A Student Project with a Triple Impact

The winning project, “Bokra,” is a community entrepreneurship model that addresses several challenges simultaneously. The initiative focuses on reclaiming degraded land by cultivating the Salicornia plant. This salt-tolerant plant can then be used to produce a healthy alternative to traditional salt, contributing to public health while also boosting food security and the agricultural economy in Egypt.

A Victory for University-Led Innovation

The university’s leadership celebrated the win as a culmination of their commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and community service. Dr. Nehad El-Mahboub, Acting President of MUST, stated, “We are proud of our students’ victory in this national competition, which reflects their unique ability to turn ideas into real projects with a tangible community impact.” He confirmed that this win is a result of the collective work and institutional support that the university provides to create a generation of creative and aware youth.

A Strong Partnership for Youth Empowerment

The Enactus Egypt competition was sponsored for the 19th consecutive year by Orange Egypt. Leaders from both Enactus Egypt and Orange Egypt congratulated the university on its achievement and praised the high level of innovation showcased by all participating teams. The partnership is a key part of a long-term strategy to support youth innovation and entrepreneurial work that creates a positive impact.
