Egypt’s National Council For Women Empowers 150 Women Through Aswan Entrepreneurship Initiative

In a significant move to bolster female economic empowerment in Upper Egypt, the Aswan branch of the National Council for Women (NCW) has launched a series of six entrepreneurship training courses, targeting 150 women and girls across five villages in the Edfu and Nasr Al-Nuba centers. This initiative is a key component of the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family, a nationwide program aimed at enhancing the quality of life and building the capacity of Egyptian citizens.

A Strategic Push for Economic Empowerment

The program has received direct support from the Governor of Aswan, Major General Dr. Ismail Kamal, who is actively monitoring its progress. The Governor emphasized the importance of intensifying coordination between government bodies to expand activities that support economic empowerment. The initiative specifically targets villages within the presidential “Hayah Karima” (Decent Life) framework, aiming to create sustainable development returns for families and the wider community.

Comprehensive Training for Aspiring Founders

Dr. Hoda Mostafa, rapporteur of the NCW’s Aswan branch, detailed the curriculum designed to equip participants with essential business skills. The training modules cover critical topics including financial literacy, strategic planning methodologies, and effective marketing techniques. The courses also introduce foundational entrepreneurship concepts such as innovation, time management, accountability, and priority setting, alongside skills in decision-making and teamwork.

Fostering a Culture of Micro-Enterprise

Dr. Mostafa highlighted that the program is a vital step toward refining the expertise of local women and girls. By encouraging them to enter the field of small and micro-enterprises, the initiative aims to improve income levels, promote economic independence, and support the state’s broader goals for comprehensive development, particularly in Upper Egypt’s most underserved areas.
