Egyptian health tech startup Rology has won the $100,000 grand prize at Meta’s AMET AI Accelerator Pitch Competition, securing top honors for its innovative AI-powered teleradiology platform. The announcement was made at the conclusion of the AMET AI Summit in Dubai, a two-day event that convened leaders from across Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey.
As the grand prize winner, Rology will also gain ongoing access to Meta’s partner engineering resources, alongside continued mentorship and technical support to scale its operations.
AI-Powered Teleradiology Platform
Rology’s winning solution addresses a critical need in the healthcare sector by automating X-ray report generation. The platform utilizes a dynamic system designed to mimic clinical reasoning, aiming to support radiologists who are facing increasingly heavy diagnostic workloads and improve efficiency in medical imaging.
A Regional Competition for Localized Innovation
The AMET AI Accelerator Program invited top startups from eight countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Senegal, and Turkey. Each country hosted a national AI accelerator over a 6-8 week incubation period, with the leading startup from each nation advancing to the final pitch competition in Dubai.
Rology was selected from a competitive pool of finalists that included UAE-based EveryHuman, a generative AI scent creation platform, and Saudi Arabia’s Juleb, which provides integrated cloud systems for the health sector.
Strengthening the Regional AI Ecosystem
The initiative underscores a broader effort by Meta to foster AI innovation within local ecosystems across the region. The summit featured high-level discussions on collaborative policy frameworks to accelerate responsible AI adoption.
