Egypt’s Suez Canal University Hosts First Entrepreneurship Forum, Awards Winning Student Startups

Suez Canal University recently held its First Entrepreneurship Forum, an event that celebrated the winners of an entrepreneurship competition for students in Ismailia. The forum, organized in collaboration with the Ismailia Directorate of Education, aims to build a new generation of promising entrepreneurs.

Fostering a New Generation of Innovators

The forum is the culmination of an entrepreneurship competition designed to introduce students to the principles of business and entrepreneurial thinking. The initiative encourages young participants to develop innovative and viable solutions to everyday problems, with the goal of instilling leadership concepts and helping to transform creative ideas into real-world projects. Fourteen teams, each composed of four students, presented their projects to a specialized judging panel of university academics.

The Winning Projects

After a rigorous evaluation process, three teams were selected for their creative and practical ideas:

  • 1st Place: Team “Medsy” won for their smart project designed to help the elderly remember medication times and accurately locate them, tackling the challenge of forgetfulness and ensuring consistent treatment.
  • 2nd Place: Team “Gifty” presented an innovative gift with a tech touch that displays a personal message in a surprising and engaging way as the recipient gets close to it.
  • 3rd Place: Team “Shafra” successfully merged education with entertainment by creating an interactive educational game that teaches children about the history of the Pharaohs in a fun and engaging style.

A Collaborative Effort to Nurture Talent

This initiative is the result of a strong partnership between the General Administration for Environmental Projects at Suez Canal University and the Department of Gifted and Smart Learning at the Ismailia Directorate of Education. The student participants expressed their excitement about the opportunity to exchange ideas and develop their skills.

Looking Ahead

Following the success of the event, it was proposed that the winning teams be nominated to participate in a nationwide competition. This potential next step aims to scale the initiative’s impact, providing a larger platform for the talented youth of Ismailia to showcase their innovations.
