Emirates Driving Company, a publicly listed entity on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, has announced a deal to acquire a 51% majority stake in AI technology specialist Performise Labs. The strategic move is aimed at pioneering the development and automation of training and testing processes for drivers and vehicles.
The completion of the transaction is currently subject to regulatory approvals. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
A Strategic Move into AI-Powered Testing
This acquisition is a key part of Emirates Driving Company’s strategy to enhance operational efficiency, elevate service quality, and bolster road safety standards. By integrating advanced artificial intelligence into its core services, the company seeks to modernize driving tests and mobility solutions across the region.
Introducing the Intelligent Virtual Examiner
Founded in 2024, Performise Labs specializes in AI-driven solutions tailored for the driver education and practical testing sector. Its flagship product is the “intelligent Virtual Examiner” (iVE), a system that provides precise and real-time monitoring of trainees. The technology also incorporates biometric verification and boasts a measurement accuracy with a margin of less than two centimeters, promising a new level of objectivity in driver assessment.
Regional Expansion on the Horizon
Performise Labs already collaborates with various road and transport authorities within the UAE. Following the acquisition, the company intends to pursue a regional expansion strategy, with plans to introduce its innovative testing solutions to the key markets of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Jordan.
