Emirates NBD Launches Fifth Cohort of National Digital Talent Incubator

4 Min Read

Emirates NBD, a leading banking group in the MENAT region, has announced the launch of the fifth cohort of its National Digital Talent Incubator (NDTI) program. Since its inception two years ago, the initiative has played a crucial role in nurturing Emirati talent and accelerating the growth of the UAE’s financial technology ecosystem.

Fueling a Booming Fintech Market

The launch comes as the UAE’s fintech market is valued at $46.67 billion, with projections expecting it to reach $81.55 billion by 2030, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 11.81%. This momentum is driven by rising public and private sector investments, the growing adoption of digital wallets, and progressive regulations in open finance, solidifying the nation’s position as a leading fintech hub in the Middle East. The NDTI program has already accelerated the growth of 17 startups, with the fifth cohort expected to bring this number to over 21.

Meet The New Cohort

The fifth cohort features four innovative startups spanning various high-growth sectors:

  • FevaFit: A fit-tech startup that leverages psychology and behavioral science to promote consistency in physical exercise.
  • Smooth Pay: A fintech platform integrating payments, rewards, and lifestyle benefits, offering cashback features and merchant tools.
  • HAAY: A climate-tech company developing AI-powered multi-modal water generators to produce clean and affordable water.
  • Transcend Tech: An AI solutions firm specializing in customized, end-to-end enterprise solutions, with the ambition of becoming the first Emirati AI unicorn.

A Pillar For Innovation

Ahmed Al Qassim, Head of Business Banking at Emirates NBD Group, commented on the program’s evolution. “The National Digital Talent Incubator has become a key pillar of innovation in the UAE’s financial sector,” he stated. “We are not just supporting startups; we are building a thriving ecosystem that empowers Emirati entrepreneurs to create pioneering products and develop world-class solutions.”

Echoing this sentiment, Mohammad Alblooshi, CEO of DIFC Innovation Hub, added, “By collaborating with Emirates NBD and other leading partners, we are fostering a vibrant ecosystem that provides Emirati entrepreneurs with the tools, mentorship, and global connectivity they need to lead the next wave of fintech innovation.”

Global Exposure and Strategic Partnerships

The NDTI program provides participants with significant global exposure and networking opportunities. Previous cohorts have embarked on international trips to key markets, including Saudi Arabia, Istanbul, Egypt, and London. The upcoming fifth cohort is scheduled to travel to the Singapore FinTech Festival. The program is supported by strategic partners, including DIFC Innovation Hub, Visa, Microsoft, and Dell Technologies, who provide training and mentorship to the participating startups.
