A consortium of leading Moroccan universities, including Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez, Moulay Ismail University in Meknes, and Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, has announced the launch of the Regional Entrepreneurship Forum Fez-Meknes. The initiative is now accepting applications from aspiring entrepreneurs ahead of the main event scheduled for March 2026, aiming to cultivate a new generation of startups within the region.
Bridging Academia And Entrepreneurship
The forum is designed to foster a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among students, PhD candidates, researchers, and young project holders. Its core mission is to transform promising academic and innovative ideas into tangible economic and social ventures that contribute directly to the development of the Fez-Meknes region. By creating a direct pipeline from concept to company, the universities aim to strengthen the local startup ecosystem.
A Structured Path From Idea To Investment
Aspiring founders have until November 10th to submit their project ideas. Following the selection process, participants will benefit from a comprehensive support program that includes specialized training workshops, dedicated mentoring sessions, and ongoing guidance. A key component of the program involves facilitating meetings with local and regional investors, providing entrepreneurs with critical opportunities to discuss funding, development strategies, and pathways to accelerate their projects.
Focusing On Regional Strengths
The forum has identified five key sectors that align with the economic strengths and priorities of the Fez-Meknes region: Artificial Intelligence, Agriculture, Health, Finance, and Tourism. While these areas are a primary focus, organizers have emphasized that the forum remains open to all creative and innovative initiatives, regardless of their field, to encourage diversity and broad-based innovation. The event will culminate in a regional finale in March 2026, where the top five projects from each of the three participating universities will be showcased for further support and integration into the regional ecosystem.
