In a significant move to bolster the UAE’s entrepreneurial landscape, the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry has partnered with Majra, the National CSR Fund, to launch the “Community Entrepreneurs Program.” This first-of-its-kind initiative in Fujairah aims to support and finance fourth-sector institutions and emerging community-driven projects, aligning with the nationwide “UAE, the world’s capital of entrepreneurs” campaign to foster a knowledge-based, innovative economy.
A Strategic Partnership Forged at GITEX GLOBAL
The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the GITEX GLOBAL exhibition. The signing was attended by prominent figures including His Excellency Sheikh Saeed bin Surour Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Chamber, and His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of Majra’s Board of Trustees. The MoU was officially signed by H.E. Sultan Jamea Al Hindasi, Director General of the Chamber, and Sarah Suhail, CEO of Majra.
Fostering The Fourth Sector Economy
The Community Entrepreneurs Program is designed to create new economic opportunities by focusing on the “fourth sector,” which includes social enterprises and community-focused ventures. The initiative will provide crucial support and funding to these startups, helping to enhance social innovation and drive sustainable economic development within the emirate of Fujairah.
Empowering National Talent and Innovation
H.E. Sheikh Saeed bin Surour Al Sharqi emphasized that the program is a strategic initiative aimed at developing Fujairah’s startup sector. He stated, “We are committed at the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to supporting and empowering entrepreneurs in cooperation with our partners at Majra, and we look forward to Fujairah becoming an advanced model for entrepreneurship at the state and regional levels in empowering youth.” H.E. Sultan Jamea Al Hindasi added that the agreement will equip ambitious Emirati entrepreneurs with future-forward skills, creating a supportive ecosystem for startups to grow and compete both locally and globally.
A Unified Vision For Sustainable Impact
Sarah Suhail, CEO of Majra, highlighted the partnership’s role in advancing sustainable development and social impact through cross-sector collaboration. She noted that cooperation between public, private, academic, and civil society sectors is the primary driver for achieving long-term, tangible results. Suhail affirmed that Majra continues to lead efforts in unifying and expanding sustainable impact initiatives across the UAE via an integrated digital ecosystem.
