The social and green tech incubator Incubateur Bidaya has successfully concluded a comprehensive support cycle for its CESAR II program cohort in the Settat province. Designed to address critical environmental challenges, the initiative focuses on empowering Moroccan entrepreneurs to develop sustainable solutions in the water and sanitation sectors. By fostering local innovation, the program aims to create high-quality employment opportunities while securing the country’s strategic water infrastructure through entrepreneurial talent.
Strategic Support for Water and Sanitation Innovation
Implemented with the support of GIZ Morocco and in partnership with the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) youth platform in Settat, the CESAR II program provided a structured journey for emerging startups. The curriculum was specifically designed to tackle the unique complexities of the water sector, combining business acumen with environmental stewardship. Participants engaged in three intensive group bootcamps focused on building robust entrepreneurial foundations, alongside personalized mentoring sessions tailored to each project’s specific needs.
A Multidisciplinary Approach to Startup Scaling
The incubation process covered a wide spectrum of essential business skills, ranging from design thinking and market research to financial planning and marketing. Beyond traditional business management, the program emphasized the “Green Tech” aspect of the ventures, helping entrepreneurs refine their business models for maximum social and environmental impact. This holistic approach ensures that the startups are not only commercially viable but also technically sound enough to handle large-scale sanitation and drinking water projects.
Technical Excellence Through OFPPT Partnership
To ensure the technical proficiency of the participants, Incubateur Bidaya collaborated with the Office of Vocational Training and Labor Promotion (OFPPT) in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region. This partnership delivered specialized technical training in the management of drinking water systems and wastewater treatment plants. By merging technical vocational training with startup incubation, the CESAR II program equips Settat’s entrepreneurs with the dual expertise required to navigate the highly regulated and technically demanding water industry in Morocco.
