INJAZ Bahrain, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to youth empowerment, has achieved a significant environmental milestone. Its new headquarters is now the first youth center in both the Kingdom of Bahrain and the wider MENA region to earn the prestigious LEED Gold certification for major renovation, setting a new benchmark for sustainable development in the ecosystem.

The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the world’s most widely recognized green building rating system and a global symbol of sustainability leadership. This achievement underscores INJAZ Bahrain’s commitment to creating a future-ready workplace that aligns with global best practices for healthier, more efficient built environments.

A Landmark Achievement in Sustainable Design

In collaboration with sustainability consultancy Green Guide, INJAZ Bahrain’s headquarters successfully implemented a range of innovative design strategies and technologies. The building now generates approximately 31% of its total energy consumption through solar panels installed over parking areas.

Further enhancements include electric vehicle charging stations to promote cleaner mobility and advanced efficiency measures that have cut total energy consumption by 50.3% compared to conventional buildings. The facility also boasts a 50% reduction in indoor water use and a 60% reduction in irrigation water, while providing natural daylight to over 75% of occupied office spaces to improve employee well-being and productivity.

Leading by Example in the Ecosystem

This accomplishment highlights the organization’s dedication to innovation, community impact, and empowering the next generation of leaders with a deep sense of environmental responsibility.

Commenting on the achievement, Her Highness Sheikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairperson of INJAZ Bahrain, said: “Obtaining the LEED Gold certification for INJAZ Bahrain’s new headquarters reflects our deep commitment to sustainability and responsible leadership. This milestone demonstrates how purpose-driven organizations can lead by example, creating spaces that support people, protect the environment, and contribute to a more sustainable future for Bahrain.”
