Jordan Expands Digital Government Services With Major Sanad App Overhaul

2 Min Read

Jordan’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship has rolled out a significant update to the national Sanad application, advancing the country’s digital transformation agenda. The new release introduces enhanced features aimed at streamlining government transactions for citizens and residents, aligning with the nation’s Economic Modernisation Vision. The platform has already achieved a critical milestone, with over 2.38 million users having activated their digital identities as of late February 2026.

Streamlining Payments for Citizens and Residents

A key enhancement in the latest version is the expansion of payment services. Users, including non-Jordanians, can now settle Greater Amman Municipality property taxes (musqafat) directly within the app. Furthermore, the update specifically improves the experience for expatriates and residents by providing immediate access to vehicle license information and traffic fine details directly on the homepage, centralizing crucial information.

Advanced Security Through Biometric Verification

To bolster security and user convenience, a new eKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) feature has been integrated. This allows users to change their registered phone numbers and reset passwords using advanced biometric verification, including ID scanning and facial recognition. This enhancement effectively eliminates the need for in-person visits to government offices for these common administrative tasks.

Expanding Accessibility and Device Support

In a move to increase accessibility, the Sanad app is now officially available on the Huawei AppGallery. The update also includes optimized support for tablets and iPads, ensuring a seamless user experience across a wider range of devices. Additionally, improvements have been made to the Civil Status and Passports Department’s family book services to refine the overall user interface.

The platform provides citizens and residents with a verified digital identity, enabling them to access essential documents, complete transactions, and make official payments securely from their mobile devices as part of the country’s broader digital transformation strategy.
